Students lobby legislators on healthcare
Posted 03/29/2017 10:06AM

On March 17-21, Upper School students in Randall Williams's Quaker Advocacy traveled to Washington, D.C. to lobby Congress on the issue of health care reform and social safety net legislation. In preparation, students learned about America's health care crisis and came to consensus on their own beliefs about the best ways to fix the problem.

In the five-year history of class, there has never been an opportunity like the one presented, to lobby senators and representatives about health care reform during a heated national debate and as Congress prepared to potentially vote on the new proposal for health care reforms.

Our students were part of a larger group of more than 400 young adults participating in the Friends Committee on National Legislation's Spring Lobby Weekend.
